Gabriela Bacsan earned her BA in Spanish and Latin American literatures and political science at UC Berkeley. She completed her MA and PhD in literature, with a specialization in Latin American cultural studies, at UC San Diego. Maryan Soliman earned her PhD in history from the University of Pennsylvania in 2014, her BA in history from UC Berkeley and her MA in history from San Francisco State University. During the 2015–16 academic year, she held a postdoctoral fellowship with the African and African American Studies Program at Washington University in St. Louis.
